VTA Vice President Herb Bartemy of TDI Repair in Swanton, VT met with the FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs today on Capitol Hill in Washington DC at the TRAA event. He is very understanding of our industry and our needs. Herb attends this event every year at his own cost to support our industry. Our members directly benefit from the legislative work that Herb and President Bob Montminy and our lobbyist firm MMR do each year.

On January 30, 2026 Vermont Towing Association Inc. President Bob Montminy and Vice President Herb Bartemy were invited to the VT Senate Transportation Committee Hearing in relation to Abandoned Vehicle Towing Rates and Process. They have been invited back to other meetings to be held this week. We feel the committee is really starting to hear the challenges towers have in removing abandoned cars, trucks, RV's, Motor Homes etc. and how the current state reimbursement rates doesn't even come close to covering our cost. The committee is working on a change that should be more fair and equitable and have asked DMV, VSP and other stake holders for input in their future meetings.
